Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1- I believe the chances of sentient life existing elsewhere in the universe, are good and make a search for such, worth the effort.
2- Without reason to fear other alien beings, yes, earth should reach out to others in space. But earth needs to get it's act together, hopefully before contact with other beings.
3-Seti@Home was a chance to have an active role in a scientific experiment that had a lot of appeal to me. I am fascinated by the search for eti and taking part in the largest combined computer experiment was also appealing.
I hope that SETIs of all manner continue and increase in numbers and quality.
I would also be interested in joining a search for near-earth asteroids.
