Profile: Rodger Hogarth

Personal background
I live in the UK, and until recently worked as a Design Engineer. I've now moved into an IT role supporting PC's, Unix workstations and servers (still working out how I can use them on this job!)

I enjoy playing with computers, I think that they are a very powerful tool. They have certainly changed the emphasis on the way we work over the past 5-10 years. As an Engineer I have been able to focus on achieving the correct solution, without having to worry about whether or not the tools I am using are up to the job. My only limitation these days, has been my imagination.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am very impressed with the approach the SETI project has taken. Would I have been as supportive if the Goverments where footing the bill? Probably not. But as a curious resident of this planet I'm more than happy to offer my assistance.

Do I believe that there is life out there. I have no idea. Until I see a 'result' I will probably remain sceptical. I'm just looking forward to the debates that arise between the Church and Science if we ever do spot an artificial signal.

But as the saying goes, its a big ass sky out there, so lets keep looking!
