Personal background
Greetings!
Having sleep reversal can be interesting...
I am largely nocturnal. I work freelance, never grew out of the goth scene despite being nearly 27 and of course I see a lot of our lovely lil galaxy!
Which leads me to ponder, while the world is quiet and fragrant; there's no-one around on earth (Well, the bits nearest me), but...
I live on the egde of Nottingham- Robin Hood country, loads of fields and woods.
I have 3 cats, feed the strays, a ferret, a coldwater aquarium, a tropical aquarium and a tank of giant african landsnails. I have a wonderful partner called j, who introduced me to SETI.
I am crunching the numbers for Team Phoenix Rising, j and a mutual friend are members also.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think ET life exists; from protoplasm and amoebas to the more advanced, traditional type! I think we may be a while discovering it as many places will be more primative than us, often with no intellegent life as such, and signals take sooo long to travel and may be lost in the huge distances involved.
I am not keen on the idea of transmitting a beacon (I watch too many movies..)- I think we'd do well just to listen and learn till we have more advanced comms and travel technologies.
I run SETI@Home out of a long-standing interest in astronomy and related topics, including SETI research. It's nice to help.
