Personal background
Hi there. Me? Well, not much to say, really. Just your average 37 year old, college educated smart @$$. Read the wrong books (according to the movie stars), don't watch sit-coms (another reason for "Hollywood Hatred"), and am just plain boring to the "Beautiful People" (snore). I have 6 cats. I live alone. I have a BA in History that I don't use (much), and I work as a Purchasing Manager who knows alot about machining--yup, can run both CNC/Conventional Mills and Lathes and can program them. Also know a bit about gemstones and diamonds. I've never had a claim to fame, however.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. a. ET--sure. Someone has to laugh at us. (And get the joke...)
b. When will we discover them? When they are good and ready for us to find them. (Seriously!)
c. Benefits: neat stuff. Replicators, and such. Maybe even bring Elvis back.
d. Drawbacks: Obesity will become even worse.

2. a. TOOOOOO LATE!!! (Sheesh! Go figure!)
b. We've sent everything from the Mickey Mouse Club to some seriously HOT PORN--(I realize that the signal is real weak...but the aliens are "real smart"!) this is not to mention all the serious stuff. Maybe a simple "Hello" (and some abject apologies for filling up the EM spectrum with the likes of the Gong Show and Mork & Mindy!)

3. a. I guess one small reason I am doing this is to make sure Gov. (for life?) Gr(E-A)y "moon-beam-jr." da\\/iS doesn't take the fall for the energy crisis (by paying MORE than my fair share of extor-electricity brib--bills)...um, maybe???
Maybe another reason--just to see what 18Ghz of processing muscle feels like...YES!!! Oh, the aliens...um, ok. If we find 'em--maybe NASA (sic) will get a funding increase (read "tip")...doubtful.
b. The competiton is pretty cool, actually. How else can one blow a wad of cash on the hottest hardware--all in the name of "discovery".
c. No real suggestions...maybe throw out all the deadbeats who are not current on the Top 1000 list! It's gonna take me a year or so to get there!!!

4. not on the list--this is a GREAT thing. Maybe if ET does show up...we could all learn something...like how to REALLY get along--and take care of each other and our world.
