Profile: Garry Salisbury

Personal background
I am 47 in 2001. I have been a science guy all my life. My first desire was to be an astronomer, then an archeologist, then a computer scientist, then a chemist, then a biochemist, finally a physician, and recently, a physician who analyses claims data for fraud.

I currently to 3D animations as a hobby. When I save more money, I plan to get a nice telescope, and return to my first career desire, astronomy.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
This is one of those great human collaborations, done for little personal gain. It is one of the few things that makes humans different.
Is there other life in the universe? Yes. Can we communicate? I don't know, but the fun is in trying to find out.
Should we transmit something? Yes. I would take a beautiful piece of music, like Ode to Joy, and convert the sound frequencies to a variety of bandwidths, and transmit those. It would show that we have a little class.
