Personal background
I am a retired geekasaur who has been involved in personal and workgroup computing since 1980, and the Apple III days. A former ship's officer and ship manager, I am a Chartered Ship Manager, specializing in computer applications.

I am also a recent convert to Linux and can now honestly say Goodbye and Good Riddance to Windoze and its open door policy (you would figure they could have closed at least a few of them?) Ain't it great to have all the software you could possibly need por nada!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As a mariner, I have a close attachment to the stars that we used to use to guide us. Whether or not there is intelligent life out there will never be proven until we detect it, and I firmly believe that if we are going to detect intelligent life, it will be by listening for them; I am honoured to be part of the effort to detect them.
