Personal background
Well, I'm a 18 male, I sing in a band (you can check us out at www.fateshorizon.cjb.net ), I enjoy music, offroading, and anything that goes fast enough to do something stupid in. Theres not much to do in north AL, so when the weather good and the sky is clear, I break out the telescope and find something to look at.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think theres life out... I mean why weren`t there be? I dont when we will discover life or how... but the real question is, will they discover us? If we hear the first signal, I think we should send Basic info about our planet, plant life, and animal life. The beifits of such a discovery would be the opertuinty to share the knowledge of the universe. The danger would be only ourselves, as people would be frightened, panicy, and dangerous, causing a mistrustful relationship between humans and another species. I think transmitting a becon for others to find is 50/50, on the one side a great idea, on the other, bad.. very bad. If we did send a beacon, The information transmitted should be something that will not endanger us. Such as basic math. I run SETI@home because I want to be there when that day comes. SETI@home is a great thing... not only does it support SETI, but it also allows anyone to participate. And my only suggestion is to keep going, never look back.
