| I currenly live just west of Cleveland Ohio USA. I was a member of the SETI SIG on the Cleveland Freenet until CFN was killed off in 1999. I am 47 and the mom of a teen who has big plans for her life. I am getting my own life in order as I return to school. I also am healing from some surgery which has put my school plans on a back burner, but not forever. )0( |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I just joined the SETI @ home group today, 12-11-01 as I can't think of a better way to deal in a positive manner with the attacks on the US and other countries by people who seem to want to live in a time when we fight over control.
Having been born in the US, I have a peculiar point of view on the world as a whole... we are all one people, no matter what we look like on the outside. More importantly, our differences in beliefs (like religion, for example) make us marvelous. Our differences are what give us the dreams to change the ills of the world into great things.
I don't know what other beings might be like, although I imagine there isn't really a great deal of difference between us and the many "thems" out there in the universe. I do believe that when we meet, there will be times when we just throw our hands (or the physical equivalent) up in the air (or the equivalent... heheh) and shake our heads (or their equivalents... but you get the idea... heheh) and just hang in there.
I believe the best ambassadors for other beings would be our children. Children may learn prejudice and bigotry early on, but they seem far more willing to let it all go. |
