Personal background
Hello out there! In case you are wondering, I am currently in London, Ontario, Canada. I am employed at a computer hardware and software reseller. I continue to look for a job as a computer programmer, but so far no luck. I enjoy programming, theatre acting, going to movies, and hanging out with my friends. There really isn't much to say about myself beyond that. Bye-bye for now!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I believe that ETs exist, but when and how are still a mystery to me. I, like many others I'm sure, would like to belive that it will happen in my life time, but the chances are rather slim. For an ET to find us, they would have to be more advanced than we are in their sciences. One of the dangers faced would be for those ETs to see us as inferior and decide to lay a claim to our planet. Probably just to many sci-fi movies. *smile* The idea of a beacon is a good one, however, my concern is how the other civilization will interpret the data. We may see it as a simple 'hi and how are ya' but they may see it as offensive. I don't know why I run SETI, to be honest. Guess I just hate the idea of all that processing power going to waste.
