Personal background
I'm a 19 year old programing student. I've been studying Java for the last 2 years, as well as dabbling a bit in C. Since early 2001, my computer collection has grown from a lowly 486DX66 to a Duron 1200 a Pentium 266 (bot running SETI@home) and a 486DX100 (my internet router/firewall).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that if life can exist on our planet, then there must be other planets out there somewhere also with some sort of life.

In my opinion, humans are already transmitting signals, whether we mean to or not, I mean, just think about all the radio signals bouncing around our satalites, surely they are also travelling around in space too.

My origanal reason for running SETI@home was to keep my Computer doing something. It was already on pretty much 24/7, so I figured it might as well do something. I chose SETI@home for the simple satisfaction that I'm doing something to benefit human kind.
