Personal background
Just a 28-year-old applications engineer for a company called Cadence.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yup. Absolutely. As to when and how us humans will discover it, tomorrow
is as good a day as any, and how will most likely be completely by accident. :-)
Benefits: blows a few holes in the universe revolving around us theories.
Dangers: discover we were an accident, a la Douglas Adams.

2. Yes, someone has to keep the lighthouse lit. "Hi, how's it going?"

3. It's the technology; it's a great exercise in processing huge quantities of
"natural" data, which can hopefully be applied to up-and-coming projects closer
to home, like human genome-related projects.
