Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Seti@home is an absolutely brilliant idea and surely one of the finest applications of the internet. It's a very exciting - and inspiring - notion that this Sharp is a tiny part of a huge collective all working towards the same end. As far as the wider concept is concerned - amazing. A fine example of technological 'socialism' (or maybe 'democracy' is less provocative!)
Is there life out there and will (can) it be found? For those of us without religious beliefs, it's a comforting and hopeful thought and one that has the power to enrich our world whatever: an even more hopeful thought is that as well as reaching outwards as a planet, we reach inwards to help those 'at home'.
