Personal background
I'm originally from Baltimore, MD where I first gained an interest in the possibility of life on other planets. I was about eight years old staring out my window when I saw a light moving across the sky over the Downtown Inner Harbor direction. It moved slow at first then stopped, then starting moving in a zig zagging motion. It then went back to it's original (when I first saw it) position then shot up at roughly a 70 degree angle and continued in that direction until you could no longer see the light.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes. I think we already have and just don't realise it.
2. Why not transmit a beacon? The worst that could happen is they don't like us and destory the planet but they probably know that would create to much of a disturbance in the universe (or something like that).
3. I run SETI@home with the hopes of knowing that I am helping in our search for other life.
