Personal background
I started crunching on a Pentium 166mmx almost twelve years ago.

My last desktop was a 2007 duo core i bought off the shelf. The PSU burnt out a few months ago.

I now want to build a new system for general use - help me finish my nursing degree etc and running S@H 24/7/365.

Any advice on component selection would be appreciated. I want the machine to be as quiet as i can get it while running a single fast GPU.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
S@H had become a passion of mine. I am very proud to be an active contributor to this wonderful world wide distributed computing program. I look forward to its successor Boinc coming on line.
SETI is the holy grail of the third millennium. Being an optimist, I hope that evidence for SETI will be found in my life time, I also hope to live to 120 :)
