Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Going on the vastness of space it would seem unlikely that there was not life out there somewhere.
If life does, did or will exist, raises some questions, if they are extremely advanced they may not be advertising the fact because they do not want to interfere with our development or lack off. If they are only slightly advanced then may see us as a threat that has to be eliminated, again they probably will not intentionally advertise their existence. The other possibility is that they are less advanced and cannot let us know even if they knew of our existence. There are a couple of other possibilities that spring to mind, life has not yet developed because conditions have not been right, or they have already died out and we will only find there remains. Some other thoughts for the pot they may have developed into a life force that would only recognise us as insects, or they have developed as very intelligent insects and only perceive us as food. Now a question how would we ever meet them even if we contacted them? Even conversation would be a little slow due to the slowness and distances to be covered.
