| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| I am the son of a retired Air Force pilot. My father believes that he had a close encounter with a UFO on a trans-atlantic flight, and I have always believed in the existence of extra-terrestrial life. I've spent many a night staring at the sky hoping to see something unusual. Does extraterrestrial life exist? Of course! How could it not? I don't beleive we'll discover it however, I believe they'll discover us! No need to transmit a beacon, with over 50 years of television and even more radio, microwave signals, cell phones, satellite transmissions and the like, the earth must appear like a circus to anyone/thing examining the electromagnetic spectrum. I have 2 computers at work, and three at home, all running seti@home, what a great use for the power of a computer when it's not being used for more mundane and un-interesting work! I just wish I had found out about it sooner. |
