Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Of course, there is no way that we could be alone in such a huge universe. Not sure how we'll discover it, maybe they will come and see us, hopefully in my lifetime. Benefits: end to petty wars (peace), no hunger, united earth, space travel (to the extent needed to get here from elsewhere in the universe), technology. Dangers: could be bad ETs, disease.

2. I thought we have already! details of the race and other creatures on the planet, star charts showing our position relative to other large objects in the universe/galaxy, music that sort of thing.

3. to be part of something huge that could make a difference to humanity. Project is a cool idea and should be funded more to get more information and send out probes etc.
