Most likely, extraterrestrial life does exist. Imean think about it, there's a google of planets out there, it'd be har to believe that only one of them has the nessesary requierments to support life.
A Beacon, do we have any idea where to aim he thing?! unless we decide to use a giant radio antenna. the bigger/longer the antenna, the farther the signals can go, if we had enought wire antenna to wrap the world a couple times... we put it abord the space shuttle. ANd during orbit let the antenna start trailing behind, when its fully deployed, send a couple signals or whatever, then take it back in.
