Personal background
I am a 29 years old Hungarian, I have a BSc in geography, my main interest is planetary morphology, particularly Mars..and travels and SETI of course ;o)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think ET life exists. Not in the UFO-way, but in a more unique, more beautiful way.
When, how? I don't have a clue. Prolly by radiotelescoping, these are the best chances by the present state of knowledge.
Benefits? "We are not alone!" And, oh, of course, exchanging achievements and many many more things...I really can't answer that question. :o)
Dangers? Maybe...But: No risk, no gain.
Absolutely, we should transmit that beacon. What information? Anything, our GREAT ENCYCLOPEDIAS, literature, music (no techno, oh, please :o) we might scare them), information about our companions on the Earth, about the animals...really, everything we can.
Why do I run SETI@home? Because I really do think we are not alone. Why not running it?
The project is..how to say?:o) COOL and a very good idea. Simple still great.
