Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it very likely that extraterrestrial life exists. It is a very selfish viewpoint to think that we are the only living beings in the universe.... if there is intelligent life on Earth, what's to keep us from thinking there isn't intelligent life in the Andromeda system or any other similar (or dissimilar) planet with the ability to support life? We know so little about the universe that absolutes are ridiculously absurd.
I also think that we may not discover extraterrestrial life for some time. Star Trek, though cliche, made an excellent point by incorporating the Prime Directive; until we advance technologically, we may not be contact by other life forms for fear of harming our natural evolution.
