Profile: Roy R. Colglazier

Personal background
Professional GEEK. Born and raised on US Marine Corps air stations. Some college
and military service. Married with children. Played Rugby Football until I got
too damn old. Play golf, hunt deer and ducks and don't fish nearly as much as I
want to. Wish to hell I'd never sold my motorcycle. Like good wine, tequila and
think life is way too short to drink cheap whiskey. American by birth and
Southern by the grace of God.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life??? Pretty much a no brainer!!! My main concerns center
around what those "folks" think about us rather than what we think about "them."
If we're lucky; we might actually find them first but I really think that we'll
be contacted when we're less dangerous to peace and good order. Certainly, we're
already transmitting all the beacon any intelligent species would need to find
and analyze us. I was introduced to the SETI project by fellow geeks, at one of
my customer sites, who thought it cool. The whole concept of a virtual machine
with practically limitless capacity is fascinating, I might run into a few old
friends from the computer business and everybody is going to be impressed when
I get my name in the news for finding THE signal.
