Profile: Alan Bromley

Personal background
Finally found something on the 28/08/01 after 322 attempts, probably just a satellite but it is encouraging.
I work and live in Truro, Cornwall.
I have recently upgraded my pc (August 2001) from a PII 233 to an Athlon 1.2GHz, this has dropped my processing time down to around 8 hours (from about 28!) that should help bump my stats up.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET must be (have been) out there, however, due to the scale of things, coincidental existence seems unlikely. Will "we" still exist when our signals are detected by some other intelligence?
I like to take the optimistic view that any "contact" will be friendly rather than of the "Independence day" type. However, if there is anyone out there, they are probably just as likely to have a dark side as we are .
I run SETI because I have always been a sci-fi fan, and the thought of meeting other intelligent life intrigues me.
I got in fairly early after seeing a write up in a magazine.
