1. Yes, Not In my lifetime. Likely benefit is eventual communication with other species bringing long-term knowledge of other parts of galaxy. No dangers unless the Borg are out there.
2. Yes. Info to include location data, and description of life and solar system.
3. Enjoy participating in the science.
