Im a university student @ Swansea (Wales, UK) doing Computer Science. Nothing much else to tell about me except that I like spacae and would like to go there ;). And I do believe something else is out there.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If we find it I think that we will be thrown forward socially to accept eachother, and other small social problems will fall into order. However I don't think that our "first" encounter will be feasible. Something is bound to go wrong ;) we're only human.
If we were to transmit a beacon of what would we do? I think a form of co-ordinates should be sent so that if a race has the technology to recieve the message and "de-code" the message checking the co-ordinates for earth wouldnt be too much trouble for them, and then you have first contact.
We should be able to accept that we may be the among the most advanced race as I'm not too sure about more advanced once exsisting.
