Personal background
I am 37 years of age and an employee of Sun Microsystems I'm currently one of the senior technical support engineers on the Integrated Stack Support Team working to handle and resolve escalated technical support issues for customers.

I'm a San Francisco native, born raised and still living in the city by the bay. I enjoy reading, collecting comics, playing with Legos and reading up about cars, whether it's old fashioned Detroit iron, German engineered bahn-burners, or the latest modified import car. I also like playing games on my PC at home.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that the universe is large enough that life in some form exists on other planets. I believe that the laws of probability will confirm that there is extraterrestrial life somewhere out there in the void of space. As to when we'll discover them, that really depends on a lot of factors. As I've learned through life, sometimes things take a while or can pop up right now.

If we discover life, I'm hoping that they'll be friendly...and that we'll reciprocate in kind. It's hard not to be cynical about the possibility that we'll treat an alien lifeform or species badly since we, as a species, are so violent and unwilling to see things for what they are at face value. Cooperation and seeing beyond conflict is something we can't see beyond another fellow human being, so what hope do we have for another lifeform?

Hopefully, when we make contact, we'll be able to demonstrate that we can work together to help benefit all.
