Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Seti will attain our mutual goal. Thanks for letting me be part of it. But I wonder how an advanced civilization would communicate with there outposts or colonies that may be spread out 10's of light years from each other. They would have to find a way to communicate instantly over vast distances with little or no lag. How would they do that???? Entangled Atoms?? OR???? I've read that it's now possible to send information this way or so the theory goes. Poor Einstein, he'll be rolling around in his grave if he heard that information can travel faster then light. But all things being equal, we'll have to develop a power source that will product 10 to 5Th times more than we currently enjoy, and have the ability to distribute it safely, without destroying our back yard, before we will have the technology to hear or talk to them or spread out our wings and leave home. In 50 to 100 years our population will double or more, will our environment be able to support us? Will we continue to deplete our ecosystem? It's a no brainer, We have to spread out, and we need to develop more abundant cheaper power sources in order to move on to the next level. If we don't, the only solution will be a WAR that will reduce the population to a more acceptable size, again, and that is not the right answer. Just a thought, has SETI tried to monitor signals from some of the most promising exoplanets system that have recently been discovered. Even the ones that have hot giant planet still might have other smaller life friendly planets or moons not yet detected. It would concentrate our efforts on higher percentage areas of the sky.
