Personal background
I'm a soon to be middle aged white male from St. Louis, MO. I work for SBC as an outside service technician. My hobbies include Mountain Climbing, Backpacking, Camping, and Computers. I do almost all my own upgrades/updates to my own house (can't see paying somebody for something that I can do). Unfortunately I seem to be a local computer consultant for a lot of my acquaintances.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes I think that Extraterrestrial life exists. It would be very self centered to think that around one off those stars there isn't life. With over 300b stars in our own galaxy, and who knows how many galaxies, life life could exist on only one planet around one star would be ludricous.

I am not sure if will discover life, or if it will discover us. We must be very careful of what we ask for. Given mankinds own past, if we do find life, and it is intelligent, and possibly more advanced than what we are, are we going to end up being overthrown, or could be be the receiver of advancements to our own technology. I feel that the risk is necessary, given our nature of exploration, we need to know.
