Personal background
I'm 23, female, from some godawful place in California.
I'm currently a College Student, and employed at the college I'm working at. (yes I like to be redundant)

My hobbies include embedding myself in computer games regardless of my mad skillz, belly dancing, performing in renaissance faires, singing, drinking an unhealthy amount of caffiene, searching for the best cheesecakes, crocheting, drawing, and other artistic stuff.

I plan to major in linguistics, and forge a career in emergency medical technology.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe Extraterrestrial life exists, when they discover it will be when the ET's allow us that contact, and that will be when they decide the time is right. Pessimistically, that would be never. I don't think humans will ever be ready. While some of us might be completely open to alien life and existance, I think the aliens have gotten a good look at how easily humans become unhinged at things outside their normal comfort zone.
Optimistically, it would be an incredible opportunity for exchanges of information and ideas. Possibly solutions to the gradual self destruction of the planet by its inhabitants. Or even doorways opened to new discoveries in the universe.

Find new homes before the earth becomes unliveable.

I run Seti because I want to show my support for the effort, and I'd like to be a part of it when we finally make contact. To say that I helped, and I believed.

My suggestions are for Seti wear. Shirts, hats, shorts. Personally, I'd like socks.
