Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I've always believed that we're not alone in the universe, but one of the reasons we may have not really encountered any of our fellow beings is because we haven't done enough searching in other dimensions. There could be intelligent life right under our noses here on Earth, just in a parallel dimension. If any lifeforms we discover (in this dimension or in others) are dangerous, all of humankind could be at risk of being destroyed. It's very tricky, I suppose... As far as sending out beacons, we definately should. I'm sure we've tried stuff like that before, though. We probably still are. I run SETI because I am totally excited about finding extraterrestrial life, and I want to do anything in my power to help. You never know when something will be found, so the more people helping out the better. I think SETI@home is an ingenius program. :) |
