Personal background
My name is David Corriveau. I am a 20yr old college student. I am studying computer engineering technology and am in my 3rd and final year. I live in Ontario, Canada. I enjoy playing hockey and pretty much any other sport. Projects like this one have always interested me, so I thought I would help out. I currently work at a local computer store doing repairs and sales, my main hobby is therefore, computers.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life is not impossible. More than likely if/when discovered it will be with the help of SETI or a similar organization. Communication with "far off life" could be good to improve technology and our way of living, but could also cause an "invasion" of sorts, which would sorta suck.
I think we should transmit a beacon in case someone like us are searching for it somewhere else. The information transmitted should be a couple variations of simple binary, hex, ascii, decimal, etc statements to see what comes back.
I run SETI because I like knowing that I paid >$3000 for something that is actually being put to use 24/7. I think that this project is a very good idea. I also think that the government should fund; if it doesn't, this project and if it does fund it, it should give you guys an award.
