Personal background
I'm originally from Stalowa Wola Poland. We moved to the U.S. a long time ago. Our family was granted a political asylum by the U.S. government. Poland was a communist country back then and my father was involved with the Solidarity movement. After getting thrown in jail for a year, my parents decided that we should move before any other injustices should happen. I was six years old at the time. We moved to Tacoma Washington, then to San Antonio Texas, then to Colorado Spring Coloradio, and finally to my current place or resisdence Shrewsbury Massachusetts. I've lead a diverse lifestyle. I've bean to 48 of the 50 states and I hope to visit Hawaii and Alaska soon. I enjoy building computers, modifying my 2001 Honda Civic, and watching BattleBots, RobotWars, Robotica, and Robot Warriors. I think I'll make a robot one of these days.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that there is a small possibility that we're the only intelligent species in the universe. If there does exist intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, then it's very possible that they will have advanced beyond our current state of technology and understanding. I think that the possibility of intercepting a signal from another intelligence is remote. Imagine the vast distances betwean stars and the speed at which signals travel betwean them. Imagine that a species will only transmit a signal for a finite amount of time. Imagine that we will only listen for signals for a finite amount of time as well. All this put together lessens the chances of actually intercepting a signal dramatically. None the less I run SETI@home and I support the efforts of SETI. If we don't try to intercept signals from other inteligent life in the universe, then the chance of actually intercepting a signal goes all the way down to zero.
