Personal background
Ran Seti@Home since Nov. 14, 2000, on a Dell Dimension XPS-T 550, P3, with 384 megs Ram. High-speed DSL connection, then cable connection from Dec 2003- August 2004.

September 2, 2004 to July 22, 2005, ran SETI BOINC on P4 Dell Optiplex GX260, 2.8 GHz, and 512 Megs RAM.

Since Sep 21, 2005, running it on a Toshiba Intel 4 485 mg ram, 2 ghz processor.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I do believe we will contact/be contacted by ETI; not sure when and how; potential benefits and dangers are manifold.

2. Not sure if we should send a beacon, yet. I do believe it should be put to a global consultation, though.

3. It's a worthy project! I'm a Baha'i scientist, and I believe in a future of peace and unity for humanity. Contact with other sentient beings is only a matter of time. I wish to contribute to it in some way.
