Personal background
I was born and have lived in the United States my entire life. As a kid, I was always greatly interested in Science and Engineering. I majored in Computer Science in college and now I am a full-time computer programmer working in state government.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I'm not sure that extraterrestrial life exists, but if it does, I think we should find it.

I think that our ability to detect other civilizations could be considered a technology "yardstick" in the same way the ability to calculate pi has been a yardstick of mathematical ability.

I run SETI@Home because it is an inspiration to the imagination: What if other intelligent life exists? What are they like? What kind(s) of civilization would be developed independant of ours? What knowledge and technology would they be willing to share with us?
