Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I do believe E.T. exists. I accept the representations from various people for example, Travis Walton, who my wife and I met at one of his lectures and book signing concerning his personal abduction. Therefore to answer the question,"how will humans discover it". I believe through personal and verifiable contacts, sworn depositions, etc.
There are great benefits to be received with the knowledge E.T. may share. I believe our civilization has already benefited with technology and medical advances. As to the dangers of our civilization officially learning about such existence. This could be extremly threatening. As many do know, until we can stop the wars and become a unified people of this planet, our security and confidences will be jeopardized, A monkey wench would be thrown into the religions as we know them, that might upset alot of people. Our enconomies would probably go into the sewer. I would think that we would have to begin a new world structure for growth in family understanding, economics, enviromental changes that are long overdue and a new understanding of where we all originated from. And ultimately our position in the Universe. I just do not think the majority of our countries people and the other countries are educated or prepared to handle such an overwhelming announcement or admission to E.T.'s existence. I think the Human Race needs to evolve more in order to deal with that reality. So, I think SETI can help ease the information to the public with minimum risk of panic.
2. I'm not so sure we should transmit a beacon signal, I think we should listen
to learn what's out there and how to prepare for further encounters. From the rumors I heard concerning secret government meetings with alleged E.T.'s,and deal making such as, technology in exchange for abductions and studies is kind of making us the Guinea pigs. It seems the trade is more for the Military rather than Mankind, although we do need to know how to protect ourselves.
3. My views about the project is that "Seti" should d
