| Personal background |
I'm often refered to as ''the fly'' after a tv commercial for fly spray. My occupation is a night time cabby in Perth Western Australia. My hobby's include customization of my ute(which is an ongoing project much to my wife's disgust), Australian Rules Football (AFL), sci-fi movies(like STAR TREK, BSG etc), playing golf(badly), fooling around with computers, writing web pages, and the occassional bit of fishing and pistol shooting, ( getting very occassional these days ).

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. ET do i think he exists? We must keep our minds open on this. On one hand it seems incredible that he doesn't. On the other, someone has to be first, so why not us. I think it is a possibilaty we must face and the only way is to do SETI. It will answer the question once and for all. Not that i think we will ever discover technological life outside our own milky way galaxy, because of the distance and natural back ground noise of the universe. But that still leaves our own galaxy, ( the Milky Way ) and that's one hell of a big place. :-)
2. should we transmitt a signal? Well if you think about it we have been doing so for the past 60 or 70 years thru' TV ,radar, radio etc. So if someone is listening within this range they can hear us already.
3. why do i run SETI? Well i think it is a MUST to do this type of reseach and i get a buzz out of my small contribution. |
