Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Guess I'll follow the little template of questions they have, so here we go...

I believe extraterretrial life (intelligent) exsists elsewhere in the universe. As to how and when they will discover it I do not know.

I definately think we should transmit some sort of signal. Would be sort of frustrating if there are other beings out there trying the same as we are, but only listening to static as well. Since we cannot expect any alien intelligence to understand any coded language message, I would suggest just a very powerful beakon that would make it obvious where we were and the signal was unnatural.

I don't think SETI@Home will ever find anything, but we can never know for sure until we actually do it, so I am participating. In addition to this I like looking at my stats every few days, watch the numbers grow, and feel like I'm doing something useful.

When I started SETI@Home, I primairly ran it on a Pentium Pro 200 MHZ with 384 MB EDO RAM. I have recently upgraded to an Athlon 1.2 GHz w/ 512 MB of PC2100 DDR RAM. It was nice to have have "top of the line", if only for a few weeks, after the PPro :) With my old computer it took on average 24 hours or so to complete a data unit, my new box does one in around 6 or 7 hours.
