Profile: Bill Slugg

Personal background
I am a male, 49 years old, from south Georgia in the US. I have a degree in
Electrical Engineering from Penn State '74. My career was as a manager with
the Procter and Gamble Company in the Paper Division, Tissue/Towel Manufacturing as a Process Engineer. I specialized in sheet forming and hot
air through drying of light weight tissue (Charmin, Bounty) particularly in the elimination of cross machine variability. I quit in 1998 to relax and pursue other interests. My wife is an RN, my son is 14 and anxious to drive, my daughter is 22 and a Senior at Emory University in Atlanta pursuing a degree
in Neuroscience. I own and operate a sharpening shop in Albany, GA where I
also do some light machine work.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life certainly exists. Within this decade we will see the first of many examples of life outside the Earth. Benefits and dangers are
nil. A beacon is a waste of resources. SETI@home will be the first to see
life outside the Earth, I want to be a part of it.
