Profile: Bill

Personal background
I am 40 years old, married, and a father of two kids. I used to work in computers at a major bank in downtown Chicago. But, now I am home on disability because of M.S. I like to use the computer to write and to access the internet mostly to keep in contact with family and friends. My favorite hobby is video taping and photos. I hope that one day we do make contact with another world and that it would benefit all living creatures where ever they live.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that life does exist elsewhere, but I'm not sure if contacting them would be handled too well by everyone. It may be years before contact is made, but for all we know, contact has been made already. Our government may be keeping information of such from the public because of the difficulty that could be experienced from keeping some six billion people from going into a frenzy. Regardless of the repercussions of contact. Whether it be friendly or not, the possibilities, I believe, are too numerous to list in just the space that is given here. We can send a signal to be received by another life form, but how are we to know what to send? Be it in the form of text, autio, electrical, musical, digital, or in video. We can only hope that another life-form is atleast just as interested in making a friendly contact as what I hope, most of us earthbound people are. I think that the SETI@HOME project is very good and very worthwhile. I not only hope that we do make contact someday, but to be part of that historical event is beyond comprehension.
