Personal background
André's Profile

General Info

I was born in 1966 in Trinidad and Tobago, the second child of a mid-level diplomat. As a result I was lucky enough to live in many different places such as the Caribbean, Western Europe, Canada and the USA.

Education and Work Experience

I received an MSc. in Computing For Commerce and Industry from the
Open University in 1993. My work experience has been in the software field - usually small businesses and solo work.

Current Status

Right now I'm at home (Maine, USA), recuperating from a particularly virulent form of leukemia which was diagnosed early last November. After some intensive chemotherapy I am currently in remission but still taking several types of experimental medications.

On a positive note I feel much better now than I have since being diagnosed but my doctors and I are still on the alert for any signs of a relapse. I stay at home and try to keep busy - I'm not allowed to work until I receive a clean bill of health
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI Outlook

This is an excellent project - it is absolutely essential for humanity to understand our position in the universe. When we understand how small and insignificant our planet is (in comparison to the universe as a whole), we will try to treat other cultures, peoples and nations as we ourselves would like to be treated.
