Profile: Robert H. Genthner Jr.

Personal background
I am a software developer for T-Mobile for the past 9 years. I am currently going back to school (Capella University online) to continue my education for my next degree. I will hopefully one day load my walls with diplomas and still continue to work my part time job delivering pizza as I have done for the last 19 years.

(Be nice to that simple driver at your door its possible he is a doctor and is just doing the pizza job for extra money.)

That leads me to why I do it and its because I currently have 6 children from 22 - 14 and let me tell you there is no such thing as extra money!

So that being said I run seti@home as my hobby on every computer I have as I have done for many years. I hope to one day find a star or planet and be given the opportunity to name it. (And also maybe visit it too so that I can get away from the kids. GRIN)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run it as I am a sci-fi buff and I find the work fascinating! I myself would get into the field if I thought for a moment I could make enough money to support my family. But until I am retired and living off that 401k this is the most I can do to contribute to exploring the stars. I wish I could hook up many more systems to give as much CPU time as I could afford to the program!
