Personal background
I'm a physician from the Philippines who happen to be very interested in Science and computers... So, I guess it was inevitable for me to end up joining this SETI@Home project. I have 13 computers! Right now, I leave 8 on 24 hours of the day crunching data. Another 2 are on during office hours. I'm still checking how much my electricity bill will go up... :) If its reasonable, I'll leave more of my PC's on 24 hours of the day... Heck, maybe I'll leave all of the on! Right now I'm using the command line program, shaved hours off my computation time compared to the graphical program... :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe we are not alone... The problem is what kind of life is there outside our small planet? Are there intelligent life? I hope so... If they do turn out to be hostile, I think its best to know about it as soon as possible instead of finding out when they wipe us out! He he he.. Seriously, I think we will eventually discover life. And, hopefully, the SETI project will be in the forefront of this discovery. By joining the SETI@home project, I can say I was part of this discovery, the discovery of life in other planets! :)
