Profile: Nick Warren

Personal background
I'm from the S.E. corner of England, 40 something and work with databases a lot. I have 6 kids and, if that wasn't enough, over 200 guinea pigs (I breed and show them).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Are they out there? Of course they are and have been for some time. And yes we will discover them sooner or later - that is if we don't manage to screw up our society first!

Should we transmit our signal - no I don't think it is worth bothering really. Any society out there capable of detecting the signal, but incapable of travelling here will probably be as frustrated as we will be when we find such evidence ourselves. And the ones who are capable of travelling here don't need to be told of our existence as they are probably quite well aware already. (You can take it from that that I take it for granted that interstellar travel in sensible time frames will be possible, despite Einstein!)
