Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm not sure if other life exists close enough for us to find, but I think we should keep listening. It may not happen in our lifetimes that we find an intelligent signal, but eventually we should. There are just too many possibilities for us not to find some other type or form of life.
Benefits? As long as we're not looked upon as food or slaves, the benefits to our own species would likely overwhelm us. Things we cannot even imagine right now, but could become common-place later. I like to say, "Just think of the things that haven't been discovered yet!"
