Personal background
I'm from Yorkshire in England. I live on the North Sea coast not five minutes walk from the sea and one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in England. I'm 27 years old and work as an IT Manager for a local business that runs a Cash & Carry and a DIY store. I've worked there for around six years now.

In my spare time I tinker around with computers a lot. I also do a bit of amateur astronomy - there's nothing quite like seeing the rings of Saturn or the moons of Jupiter with your own eyes... I also play guitar, I've been playing for around ten years now - between working that is. This 'earning a living' business doesn't half eat into your free time you know.

I run seti@home on my home computer - a linux box - starting as cron job so it's basically running in the background all the time my PC is up. The current work unit (so ksetiwatch tells me) was drawn from somewhere in the rough direction of Aldebaran.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I firmly believe that extraterrestrial life exists out there. Life is so ubiquitous on this planet that it is inconceivable that it can't exist out there too. Intelligent life is bit less certain. It took a long time to start up here on Earth and some might say we're still waiting for it ;o)

I would hope that there is intelligent life out there. It makes me feel terribly lonely to think that in all the vast reaches of space and all the multitudes of galaxies in the Universe that intelligence might be unique to this planet and this species. Well...this species and dogs.
