| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I think that ET exists. I am afraid that the techniques that we are using to "listen" are too primative. So I expect that the best that Seti@home can expect is to locate a distress beacon. Benefits to S@H: watch "Independence Day". Earthers tend gather together against a common foe. (Check out the war of 5 armies in "The Hobbit".) No matter what ET wants us to think there will be those on earth that will envision a "V" scenario, so I expect that discovery of ET will be the greatest catalizing agent EVER towards earth-society. I would pay good money to shake ET's little paw. (I am actually expecting mostly people-looking aliens. One head, two legs, two arms, two eyes, four fingers and a thumb on each hand, etc.)
