Personal background |
I am a 73 year old retired high school teacher from Dix Hills,NY. Computers and reading are my major interests. In 1990 I concluded that computers were the technology of the future. If I didn't know how to use one, it would be as limiting as being unable to read and write. Therefore, by 1991 I had my first e-mail address through a BBS. I became computer literate but not a computer expert by any stretch of the imagination. Ever since that time I have been learning about computers but I am self-taught so my knowledge is not as extensive as I would like.
I have always been interested in Astronomy. In 3rd grade I remember writing a paper about the possibility of life on Mars. The research I did indicated that it wasn't known if there was life on Mars and we would not get the answer to that question before I died. Mars was just too far away to think we could ever study it adequately to know the answer to such a profound question. Is it any wonder that I would want to help with the Seti project today?

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. I feel a moral obligation to help with such a worthwhile project. It would be impossible for me not to run Seti and still live with myself.
2. It should be more valued than I think it is by our country.
3. You know the Dummies series of books? You should have Seti for Dummies. When I first became invoved with Seti it was very easy. Now you have that BOINC thing and it has become terribly complicated, difficult to run and totally confusing. I wish you had Seti for Novices. Everything else with computers seems to have gotten easier over the years. Not Seti. |
