Personal background
I'm originally from California. I'm currently a PhD student in the Cardiology Department at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. I am studying the role of macrophages in atherosclerosis. I am 27 years old and my hobbies include photography, watching films (foreign, independent, gay and lesbian, classics, noir), and rock climbing.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I started running SETI@home as a young college student. I remember finding out about the project and thinking it was fascinating (of course, I was an avid X-Files watcher at the time). I consider myself to be a complete realist, which is why when I say I believe in aliens I loose some of my credibility. Nonetheless, I am a scientist, and as such I am skeptic. Thus, I would never believe for a minute that we have complete dibs on the universe. If there are forces out there in shapes and forms that perhaps are out of our realm of understanding, that does not deny their existence, it only means that those "life forms" are still invisible to us, for now.
