Personal background
Born in Taiwan, grew up in Singapore, currently in Dallas, Texas (and has been for the past 7 years). Finished my Masters in Computer Science a couple years ago, and continuing with my PhD at the University of Texas at Dallas while working for Nokia. Yes, I'm a total geek. But if I can be pulled away from my computers and gadgets, I'm very much a music freak. Besides taking voice lessons and joining choirs (I'm an alto), I also play the piano (took lessons for 10 years, had a break for about 10 years, and now resuming piano lessons... so you can roughly guess how old I am!) and the drums/percussion (been in symphonic bands, rock bands, symphony and chamber orchestras...). Have also conducted bands and attempted music composition (not much success though). Would like to pursue a music degree in conducting and direct a symphony orchestra if I have the chance in future. Another dream of mine is to be a pilot. Or an astronaut. Yeah, I like the sky, the space, stars, nebulae... and all that cool stuff. I like to read books on physics and metaphysics, plus a wide range of other topics too. Things that I can never get enough of are books and CDs, well ok and shoes (I'm of the female species after all!!).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Came across SETI @ home more than four years ago... my stats shows that I enrolled as a member in June 1999. I used to run it on 2-3 machines at home but much configuration changes have taken place and all that... anyway my main box (at any point in time) has always been running SETI @ home and it will continue to do so. Do I believe ET life exists? Are you kidding?? I *KNOW* they exist! :) Because I am... oops, I'm giving too much information away. Just take my word for it: The Truth is Out There... "Although we may not be alone in the universe, in our own separate ways, on this planet we are all ... ALONE."
