Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that an extraterrestrial life exists, but we propably never find a intelligent species. The only life that we'll discover should be bacteria, and some of the bacteria could be mutations of earth one. For example, bacteria on mars is probably due to all mankind equipement sent into space.

If we discover a intellignet extraterrestrial life, i think we shouldn't transmit a beacon. Even if we transmit something, they will receve it a couple 100 000 years later anyway.

I run Seti@home because i own powerful computers running 24/7, so when they're running idle i can serve the science, event if i don't think that we'll find something interesting. I run it also because it's a good benchmark for testing CPU power.
