Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well I started to help out with seti back when I lived in Vanuatu I had a little 486 running it almost all of the time and it would take a good 2 weeks to processes a data unit. Now I am running 3 machines and it goes a little bit quicker.

I like to help out with seti for one reason really and that is that even thought the environment and social change are really good things to work towards. (I do my fair share) exploring outside our own little box is what has pushed human development all along, good or bad. And its nice to know that as you sleep there is stuff going on you feel like you are doing something when your really are not.

As the Monty Python lads use to say in the last verse of the Galaxy song :

Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,

In all of the directions it can whiz;

As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,

Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.

So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,

How amazingly unlikely is your birth;

And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,

'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!

That’s a joke btw.

Anyway, Take care
